The Bull Runners of Pamplona, Spain - a Discussion of the Health Belief Model - approved continuing education course

The Health Belief Model has been applied to problems of predicting, explaining, and influencing behavior. The Health Belief Model proposes that people’s motivation to change their behavior is affected by their beliefs of susceptibility to a disease, severity of the disease, and the benefits of changing that behavior. This theory focuses on individuals’ attitudes and beliefs about certain health-related behaviors. This paper will also address the health belief and theoretical models of self-efficacy.
These models fundamentally guide both our current and future understanding of health behavior as to provide a direction to medical intervention and improve patient outcomes.
Goals and Objectives
  1. Discuss Health Belief Model
  2. Discuss Bandura's Self-Efficacy Theory
  3. Examine methods to implement this into your practice.

What makes your own life balanced and happy?

Life balance means different things to different people. What works for one, may not work for another. Some may view balance as happiness, for others it may be more complex. It ultimately depends on your own situation.
What does life balance mean to you? And what influences it?

Can you tell us in your own words?

A view from the window seat…

As we approached our arrival in Honolulu, Hawaii the sky view of Diamond Head in Hawaii was spectacular.  We were very excited about exploring the islands of Hawaii.

Thought about a vacation in Hawaii? We have arranged an 8 day escorted tour with Trafalgar Tours Hawaiian Explorer First Class tour prior to our nursing conference. Tour dates are January 8 – 15, 2015 and visits the islands of Oahu, the Big Island and final destination is Maui, Hawaii. If your bucket list includes a visit to Pearl Harbor, viewing the volcanoes in Hawaii, and even a whale watch, here is a great way to complete these wishes.

The nursing conference of “Transforming Healthcare: Best Practices” is January 16-17, 2015 in Maui, Hawaii. What a great way to visit the islands of Aloha and earn continuing education credits.

Thought for the day

“To do what nobody else will do, a way that nobody else can do, in spite of all we go through; is to be a nurse.”
